2018 update: In order to make room in my life for other things, I am declining wedding music requests indefinitely.
What I do
As a solo wedding pianist, I provide a full service. This includes:
- Music consultation
I’ll meet with you to discuss your music selection and options. I’ll help you choose songs or work out a piano version of your favorite song.
- Wedding Rehearsal
When it’s time to practice for the big day, I’ll be there to set the audio cues that signal the important moments.
- Prelude and Postlude
I’ll play a selection of background music to set the mood for your guests and the wedding party before the ceremony begins and as your guests are leaving the ceremony. If you have preferences for this time you can let me know; otherwise, I’ll play from a list of music carefully curated for the event. Please not that this does not include music during your reception, which needs to be arranged separately.
Your wedding ceremony is one of the biggest moments of your life. I’ll make sure it’s perfect.
Unless we arrange otherwise, you’ll be responsible for providing the piano or keyboard and sound equipment for the event. If you have questions about instruments, equipment rentals or any other technical details, please bring them up as early as possible so that we can make arrangements well in advance.[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/playlists/976563″ params=”auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”450″ iframe=”true” /]
Questions you might ask
How do I get started?
If you’ve started thinking about your music, you’re already started! I recommend you download my free Wedding Music Planning Guide so that you’re prepared when you meet with your wedding coordinator, musicians or vocalists. The guide contains a few questions that help you to explain the style and mood of your wedding, and a worksheet of ceremony sections which are commonly associated with music so that you know which songs you’ll need. You can download the worksheet for free: Wedding Music Planning Guide
Can you play my favorite song?
I play the piano entirely by ear. As such, if I can listen to it, I’ll most likely be able to play it. If you’re a classical music aficionado, you may notice that I’m not playing the song note-for-note. Improvisation is central to my playing style, so if you’re looking for someone to play from sheet music, I’m probably not the right musician for your event.
Can you compose a song for my wedding?
Absolutely! It’s one of my favorite things to do.
Do you travel or play for destination weddings?
If you’re prepared to pay for travel expenses, I’d love to talk with you about music for your destination wedding. If you really like what I do, definitely get in touch and we’ll see if we can make it work!
I started playing the piano at the age of 13. I’ve been playing wedding music since 2006, and have been the primary musician in over a dozen weddings.
